It has been verified by experts, who say it is a decoration found on the corners of a Roman coffin. This Elvis probably dates back to about 200 AD – about 1,750 years before the birth of rock'n'roll. But it could even date to 400 BC, experts claim. The bust is an authentic acroter­ion – an ornament often found on the corners of sarcophagi, stone burial chambers where the most important people were laid to rest. It is part of one of the world's most stunning private collections of ancient art, which will go under the hammer in London. The 150 lots, once owned by Australian collector Graham Geddes, ­include Greek and Roman vases and r­eliefs showing battle scenes. Many of these will go for up to £90,000 each although Elvis is unlikely to make even a fraction of that, unless the resemblance sparks a bidding war between fans. The figure could fetch as much as £25,000 when it is sold.

You might have heard of fish that scavenge or pick parasites off of other fish. There are even some who mimic such scavenger fish but end up taking a huge bite out of a "patient" instead. Garra rufa, AKA the reddish log sucker, has been used in Turkish spas to treat psoriasis patients, but here we have a less medical and more hedonistic use. The fish, which are toothless, are being used in pedicures. Doctor Fish Massage has two locations using their services; both are outlets of Yvonne Hair, Nail, and Tan Salon. If you could choose one ability, what would it be out of the options here?

    Combust or explode things with your own will.
    Command the wind.
    Move the earth beneath your feet.
    Phase through walls.
    Flashstep or some would call it shadow step.
    Use forces of telekinesis.
    Manipulate water and ice.
    Shoot lightening at your fingertips.
    Create and control fire.
    Engage in telepathy.

And there is a kick to this:  You have to type out one short scenarios of how you used it.  It can be a short paragraph of a story, or a full story, whichever (of course you are the character in it) or a day to day thing with you having this special ability.

And if you wish, find one picture, any picture (doesn't have to be you) of how you might be using this chosen power of yours.  You don't have to find it if you don't wish to :)  This part is optional.

Well, let me exam some of these options:  
Combust or explode things with your own will; This would be very messy, loud and I'd probably smell like some smoky chemical thing.

Command the wind; I can already burp at will and often have the ability to generate small amounts of wind, especially after eating beans.  I don't think I'd like the power because it would tend to mess up my hair.

Move the earth beneath your feet; If that happened I would fall down a lot.  I'm not that stable to start with so don't at earthquakes to my balance issues.

Phase through Walls; Cool.  Great for taking shortcuts and I wouldn't let heat in or out of the house when leaving.  This has potential but other than the obvious practical joke possibilities I'm not sure it would be very practical or useful.

Flash step/shadow step; Sounds like something you would do for River Dance.  I'm not much of a high stepper but it would help me get to work faster.

Use forces of telekinesis;  That would be cool just as long as I could lift myself.  No cape though.  I would look the the Michelin Man or the Goodyear blimp sailing through the air.  Saves on gas money.  I could actually find the needle in the haystack and levitate it to safety.  Nifty.

Manipulate water and ice; I can't swim so I don't want that much water around and I'm thinking there would be huge frostbite potential. 

Shoot lightning at your fingertips; I would ruin a lot of gloves that way.  It would be handy to be able to recharge batteries and I would buy and electric car and power it myself.  Lots of money savings there.  I could zap all the weeds in my yard  without using Roundup.  "Die, weed, die!"

Engage in telepathy.   You could be a really cool spy or FBI interrogator since you would be a human lie detector.  The big drawback would be the fact that I don't like what passes through my own mind sometimes and it would be really bad to see all the disgusting, icky and frightening thoughts of other people all the time.  Sounds like a really short trip to the asylum.  

Create and control fire;  I like this one.  I could have my own global consulting organization and if there was an oil well fire I could just fly there on the corporate jet and put it out or help control the wild fires in California and do perfectly controlled burns to prevent fires in national parks and even do fire magic in Las Vegas.  "Yo, Fire Dude, yur lookin' hot."

What soon-to-be-published book are you excited to read?

I'm glad 'soon' is a relative term.  [grin]  According to this site, Sibella Giorello's next novel, The Rivers Run Dry, will appear in February 2009.  She crafts an excellent story and her characters seem to be people I know (or would like to).  Her first novel, The Stones Cry Out, is a great read and I'm looking forward to many more hours with her fiction in hand.

The Seoul-based labs -- one affiliated to RNL Bio Co and the other to Sooam Biotech Research Foundation -- are separated by about 30 km (20 miles) and bill themselves as the only places in the world where you can clone a cocker spaniel or retrieve a retriever, with costs running at about $50,000 (25,000 pounds) to $100,000. Customers such as South Korea's customs service have cloned a champion sniffer dog, seeing the option as a cost-effective way to produce candidates for expensive training programs. The customs service estimates the cost at 60 million won (30,128 pounds) per clone. It costs about twice that to breed and train a normal sniffer dog, but only about 30 percent are good enough to make the grade, it said.
